what are your favorite tires to ride + size = why ?
« on: August 10, 2008, 02:27:50 AM »
hello all.
I am wanting to see what tires you guys are using.,
as I have tried a fiew out,
I have found a favorite ( for me ) so far
but i have also tried other tires - to find I dont like the way they ride.

for me - my current favorite tire is : primo comet 1.50 @ 115 psi.
why =   is verry fast rolling - and feels like it never slows down.
it is verry sensitive to turning / lean / angle that you are doing,
so it is super responsive tire to use.  verry good for turbine + spins.
when newer - they scuff amazing,  when they wear to slicks  they scuff 75% as good as new
I realley like this tire alot,   especialy how fast they are.
I am wanting to maby try a 1.35 wall on the back tire  just to test it out
but maby it could be too sensitive to bike angle as such a small tire.

but I would like to hear what tires you guys use - and how you like them.

I bought the 1.35 Primo comets some weeks ago and I hate them. I just could not control the bike. They roll like butter but didn't work with my switches. Furthermore, they don't work on wet floor. So Odyssey Frequency G 1.75 for life

I have frequency g tire 1.75 that I try,  but find that this tire still feels
"slugish" compaired to primo comet 1.50 that I use.
maby I am using wrong psi for them.  I keep at 115psi
is this enough?  should I try 125 ?

and yes primo comet tire is no good for wet.
is actually almost impossible to ride in wet with them.  verry slippery.

Right now I'm using 1.75 Freq. G's.  Great for rolling, but I prefer something with a bit more bite to the tread for scuffing.

I used to ride the first gen. Haro Multisurface tires and found them to be the perfect balance between smooth rolling, while still being grippy to your shoes when you tried to scuff.   That was back before high-pressure was popular.  I think it would be cool try a set of 1.75 Haro's with high pressure, if they made them.  I don't think they do though. :(

I use KHE premium 1.75 and they're great. I used to use Primo Monster V 1.95 and loved those too. I think the KHEs are better though.

Been riding the Freq G tires for a while now.  Just switched to the 1.75 this year and will never go back.  My next pair will be the Ares A-Class 1.75 the harder ones, not the new soft ones.  I have been told they are the best right now by several reliable people.

my black wall primo comets took a while to wear out / 2 months
but my gum wall primo comet is wearing out in 1 month.

is good that they only cost $15 each on flat fuel.

i`ve already rode freq. g. (1,85 and 1,75), primo comets (1,5), tioga comp pool(1,75), khe premium mac1(1,6) and all i can say is those khe premiums r awesome piece of rubber. they r light, fast, responsive, gripy as hell,..... but i just have to wait and see how long will they last  otherwise KHE r the best tires i`ve ever rode
p.s. i run all my tires @ 120psi or more.

Those Ares A Class... I saw Pete Brandt yesterday and in a week of doing shows he went thru 4 tires...I mean they were bald!! I was shocked! lol  But I never seen a tire so light they were lighter than an innertube I swear!!

Yeah, those are super light despite the fact they have a steel bead! A Frequency G with steel bead is way heavier than an A-Class.

I can't believe you can make a tire that light..it's incredible when he handed me I was like holy sh*t!! I swear it was as light as 5 sheets of paper no lie!

I will say the riding surface he was on was less than optimal to be fair though!

I think 5 A class tires are lighter than a freq! lol
