Flats a solitary artform for some.  I try to ride alone pretty often, though I live in Austin Texas, and you can't ride down the street without running a BMXer over.  I love riding alone though...

Preference why else? It saddens me you have to ask why tbh are you like the ppl in a room that cant handle the dude sat in the corner quietly minding his own so you decide somethings wrong with him and have to try and force socialising onto him?

If you dont like riding alone then id argue riding isnt what you actually love but more the social aspect that can go with it .

So every theird Time i Ride is with others. Its more than a Funny Sport for me, its My Life! Nearly everything i do is for Flatland! I wear clothes for Flatland, i stoped with all other sports And Split up with My girlfriend that doesnt like BMX. BTW.: I am 12 ;)

There are no other flatland riders in my town and I've been riding pretty much solo for about 8 years straight. I like riding alone, but occasionally I like to be around other people. I still think it would be really cool if there were actually other flatland riders around, but its not going to happen. People are just too damn lazy.

There's a good scene in Montreal, Qc. It's not as big as Austin, but there are at least 6-7 active riders and 4-5 others that are less active or are often not here because they travel alot.

Also, people here have some respect for flatland. When I ride in my parking lot, the cars try to not disturb me, and many people support me.

Just a word about Austin Texas and its scene.  You know, everything about Austin and its BMX scene didn't just happen by accident.  The locals have put in a lot of hard work over the last 25 years to make it happen...from digging trails, starting BMX bike shops, to starting thier own rider owned companies.

The flat scene here is the same way...Rad Dad is the glue to our scene...but there are many "movers and shakers" here.   Many have something unique to bring to the table.  bmxfreestyler.com and flatstyle blogs, Sequence, OG flatland team(doing demos etc), Team McDuff and thier insanity, the Texas Flatland Roudup, the support of the local bike shops like Clown Dog, etc.

That's why the scene is big here...people have the Do It Yourself ethos...they don't just wait for a scene to appear, they made a scene.  "Build it, and they will come."

I should consider myself fortunate(and I do), but I do enjoy riding alone a lot.

Anywho...sorry about the "uncool" rant or whatever...

something like 5 years ago in my town we were 8 riders, and that's a crazy number considered that the whole town has only 5000 people.
but that lasted only a couple of years then the number went back to 2.
