The reason these broke is because you need better bars; its a beginner bike.

The bike is several years old, so it probably is not still under warranty.

Also, the bars are hi-ten steel.  There's a reason why full Chro-moly is more expensive.  Be glad you got several years of use out of them!  :beer:

this used to happen with the old GT Performer bars which were full 4130 chromoly.
check the market place here on G-F dude...u might be able to score some bars cheap. ;)
