Austin Peddler Comp
With only six days notice, the good folks at The Peddler bike shop in Austin put together a very cool, very chill session inside the future home of their new shop. Riders from all over Texas came to Austin to show their support for a great rider owned shop that helps keep the Austin BMX scene going strong. Austin really takes the prize for best BMX destination in North America. Whether you are headed to Austin for a contest, or just to jam with the OG riders, the city is one of the most diverse, hip, and bike friendly places in the USA.
The jam format contest was a great little experiment in contest judging. Two classes; Player (am) and Slayer got a designated slot on the floor and took turns in the jam circle. At the end of the jam session, ballots are passed to everyone for a vote. Very interesting.. Cullen grabbed first in Player, busting some serious flat moves on a 24´ cruiser..so sick! Runner up in Player after a tie-breaker vote was yours truly. I was actually getting warmed up before I rolled my ankle. It was swollen like a racquet ball, good times. Adam DiClaudio, Scott Ditchfield, and legend Ruben Castillo battled it out for the top two spots in the ´slayer´ class and totally pushed things to another level. Adam DiClaudio held on for the win, taking home a cash prize and much respect.
Great town, great shop, and the coolest people in BMX. The Peddler and the people behind the scenes there are a few of the reasons why Austin is the ultimate BMX scene. look it up
